Reports

Understand how your business is doing with five focused report views and an overview that ties them together. Charts are embedded directly in each view, so every report combines numbers and visuals in one place.

Accessing reports

Navigate to Reports in the sidebar. On desktop, switch views with the tab bar at the top; on mobile, use the view selector or swipe left and right between views.

Report views

Overview

The landing view brings your key numbers together for the selected period:

  • Headline stats: revenue, profit with margin, outstanding invoices, tracked hours, and expenses
  • A financial overview chart (monthly or quarterly)
  • An aging breakdown of unpaid invoices, with a shortcut to send reminders
  • Your top clients by revenue
  • Insight cards that flag things worth acting on, such as overdue invoices or a slim profit margin

Each block links through to the matching detailed report.

Profit & Loss

The P&L view covers your results through three lenses you switch between at the top:

  • Profit: revenue minus expenses, margins, and how they develop over time
  • Revenue: income per period, trends, and comparisons
  • Expenses: where your money goes, broken down by category

Cash Flow

Track actual money movement: cash coming in from payments, cash going out to expenses, the net result, and your running balance over time.

Clients

Analyze your customer base in three tabs:

  • Activity: revenue per client, client ranking, and invoice patterns
  • Outstanding: unpaid invoices per client, how long they have been open, and what is overdue
  • Lapsed: customers who bought before but have not had an invoice this year. The view shows the count, their previous total spend, the date of their last invoice, and quick actions to call or email each customer. It is campaign-shaped work, so it lives in a report rather than in the urgency-sorted dashboard briefing.

Forecast

See where your numbers are heading, based on recurring billings, open invoices, and your recent run rate. Switch the horizon between 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months to see expected revenue, expenses, profit, and your cash runway.

Income tax

The Income tax view estimates the income tax for the selected year: gross profit, the self-employed deduction and SME profit exemption, taxable income, the tax brackets, estimated tax, profit after tax, and how much to set aside. If your company is a BV, it shows an estimated corporate tax instead. Treat it as a planning aid for reserving money, not as a filing.

If your workspace uses the real-estate module, the Box 3 card shows the total capital, taxable base and notional return for the workspace. For legal forms with multiple partners, the card explains that each partner must split the base and notional return proportionally for their own Box 3 filing. The displayed amounts are the workspace total.

The KIA card shows the small-business investment deduction based on your investments. If you sell an investment within five years of purchase, you may have to repay part of the deduction through the desinvestment addition. MyCompanyDesk does not calculate this automatically yet, so check the amount yourself or with your accountant.

Looking for the VAT report?

VAT has its own dedicated page with quarterly overviews and filing support. See VAT Management.

Accounting view

Reports opens in a simple view by default: income, expenses and the VAT you owe, shown without bookkeeping jargon. Switch to the full accounting view at any time to see the general ledger, balance sheet, profit-and-loss account and annual accounts. The full view is useful when you work with an accountant; you do not need it for your own tax return.

The general ledger shows each ledger account with its RGS reference code where applicable. RGS (Referentie Grootboekschema) is the Dutch standard chart of accounts for entrepreneurs; the codes make it easier for you and your accountant to line up ledger lines with accounting software that supports RGS.

Auditfile export (XAF)

In the full accounting view, open the annual accounts for a year and choose Auditfile (XAF) to download a Dutch XML Auditfile Financieel 4.0 file. This file contains the same year-end ledger data as the PDF annual accounts, but in a structured format that accounting packages and the Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst) can import directly. It is useful when your accountant asks for the books in XAF format, or when you file electronically.

Filters

Open the Filters panel with the button at the top of the reports page. The filters apply to every report view:

  • Period: choose the granularity (Year, Quarter, Month, Week, or Day), with a matching picker for the chosen granularity
  • Year: the reporting year
  • Compare with: enable comparison and pick a Compare year to see period-over-period changes
  • Include open invoices: toggle whether unpaid invoices count toward revenue

Tips

  • Use comparison mode to spot trends and seasonal patterns
  • Check the Outstanding tab under Clients regularly to follow up on overdue invoices
  • Review the Lapsed tab each quarter to see which previous customers you could win back
  • Review the P&L monthly to understand your margins
  • Glance at the Income tax view each quarter so the amount to reserve never surprises you
